Position Title: Grant Review Specialist
Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Hybrid (Remote with occasional in-person meetings in Georgia)
Employment Type: Full-time, 3-year term
Salary: $50,000/year
Position Summary:
The Georgia Arborist Association (GAA) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grant Review Specialist to support a multi-year tree removal assistance initiative. This position plays a critical role in reviewing grant applications, maintaining accurate records, and submitting reports to funders. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, have excellent time management and communication skills, and be committed to environmental equity and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Review:
Review grant applications for completeness and eligibility.
Evaluate supporting documents including arborist proposals, insurance certificates, photographs, permits, and property qualifications.
Ensure applications align with program guidelines and funding priorities.
Prepare application materials for blind review by the award committee.
Program Administration & Tracking:
Maintain organized records of all applications, awards, and supporting documentation.
Track the status of projects from application to completion.
Support scheduling and communication with contractors and homeowners as needed.
Assist in maintaining secure digital filing systems.
Reporting & Compliance:
Compile data and prepare timely, accurate reports to the funding agency and GAA leadership.
Monitor program milestones and funding expenditures.
Ensure compliance with grant terms, privacy protocols, and financial accountability.
Communication & Coordination:
Respond to applicant questions and assist with the application process when needed.
Communicate with contractors, homeowners, and partner organizations to ensure smooth implementation.
Coordinate with planting partners and volunteers for replanting projects.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in environmental studies, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
Must be a Certified Arborist or have the ability to achieve certification within one year of hire date.
Experience with grant administration, data entry, or program management preferred.
Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic database systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
