Homeowners are not required to choose a contractor from the GAA Preferred Contractor List.
Applicants may use any tree care provider to obtain an estimate or perform services under the assistance program, as long as they meet the insurance and certification requirements.
When contacting a tree care company, please let them know that you are looking for a Tree Risk Assessment Qualified Certified Arborist.
The contractors listed here have been vetted by the GAA and meet membership and program-specific criteria. The list is offered as a resource to help homeowners identify professional, experienced companies already engaged with our association.
If there is not a preferred contractor in your area, you can search our membership database or use the Find an Arborist tool provided by The International Society of Arboriculture found here.
If you would like to speak to someone at the Georgia Arborist Association about finding a qualified contractor, please call 404-913-1422.

The GAA does not provide tree risk assessments, legal advice, or recommendations through this program. If your tree is not approved for funding, that does not mean the tree is safe or should remain in place.
Appeals to decisions made by the Award Committee may be submitted in cases where an application is denied based on the health or condition of the tree. Additional supporting documentation, such as a Tree Risk Assessment or advanced inspection results (e.g., resistograph readings), may be provided by the applicant for reconsideration. All appeals must be submitted in writing within the timeframe specified by GAA.
Our decisions are based only on program rules and available funding—not on a full evaluation of your tree’s condition. We strongly recommend that you speak with a qualified ISA Certified Arborist to determine the best course of action for your trees.
GAA is not responsible for any decisions you make about your property or for any damage caused by trees that are not removed through this program.
In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the Georgia Arborist Association (GAA) prohibits discrimination against any person on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age, religion, political beliefs, marital or family status, income derived from public assistance, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law.
GAA’s programs, activities, membership, services, and employment opportunities are open to all eligible individuals, and participation will not be denied on the basis of any protected status.
